Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Resident Specialist to join our behavioral health team. This role involves providing comprehensive support and clinical care to individuals recovering from addiction, with a focus on promoting mental health and wellness. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills communication skills, solid boundaries and able to care about people while ensuring client safety. The appropriate hire will be committed to delivering patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary setting. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Duties
Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to enhance patient engagement and promote recovery goals.
Facilitate mental health first aid intervention strategies to ensure patient safety during acute episodes.
Maintain accurate documentation, including staffing notes in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Regulations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary
Participate in research initiatives related to addiction treatment outcomes and behavioral health advancements.
Stay informed about current best practices in addiction counseling, social work, and mental health treatment modalities.

Proven experience in home & community care, hospital settings, or behavioral health environments.
Ability to handle crisis situations effectively with strong crisis management skills.
Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills aimed at supporting patients through recovery processes. This role is integral to delivering high-quality addiction treatment services within a supportive environment dedicated to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices and compassionate care.
This position may and will require working evenings, potentially nights and 2 weekends a month. There are rooms available on site for those that may travel from a distance. Summit Counseling Services is an equal opportunity employer.
