Mercer County is looking to fill the position of Emergency Manager to serve the counties of both Mercer and Oliver. This is a part-time position that will operate with varying hours. This position is responsible for managing and directing the administration of the County Emergency Management programs to support and assure state of readiness of the emergency operations center and to develop and maintain a comprehensive system in which to respond to, and recover from, known and unforeseen hazards or situations caused by an act of nature or man. • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Administration or a related field required. An equivalent of four (4) years’ experience sufficient to provide the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.
• Certification, or willing to obtain Certification as an Emergency Manager is preferred.
• Experience in a leadership project manager role is preferred.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and work evenings and weekends when required by special circumstances.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
